Mary Ellen has been a professional artist since 1980, teaching and displaying works both in individual showings and (in concert) with others including many juried shows.
Her works may be found in many private collections throughout Canada and the US and may be seen in local galleries and her Lindsay studio.
Light, depth of color and vibrancy in Mary Ellen's art is achieved through the layering of transparent colours.
In doing a setup to photograph, to create a watercolour painting her focus is on composition, light, colour and subject matter. People frequently look at her work and comment, “That’s a watercolour painting?”
